Frequently Asked Questions

What is Paradiso?

PARADISO: Chapter 1 drops audience members (10 at a time) into a noirish world that combines the surreal mystery of a Stanley Kubrick film with the stylized futuristic feel of Blade Runner into a one hour immersive theatrical Escape Room experience set in and inspired by the heart of New York’s Korea Town. Featuring a cast of dozens, highly designed sets with state-of-the-art special effects and the next generation of puzzles and mind-bending challenges, this immersive attraction is unlike anything audiences have ever seen or experienced.

What is an Escape Room?

An escape room is a genre of live entertainment that involves being locked in a room, space or series of spaces with a group of up to 10 people (sometime more) for an hour with the goal of solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles in order to escape before your time runs out.

Is Paradiso an escape room?

PARADISO: Chapter 1 is an escape room and follows the traditional escape room format of small groups (up to 10 people at a time) locked in a room or series of rooms with the goal of escaping in an hour or less. Paradiso goes beyond the format of most other escape rooms in that there are performers, elaborate sets, Hollywood level state-of-the-art special effects in addition to the puzzles that you would expect. Though we do call it an “Escape Room,” Paradiso represents our intention to expand and improve upon the genre.

Are there different themes like other escape rooms?

No. Part of our different approach is the idea of introducing one unifying and believable narrative concept. Instead of offering a menu of fairly random “themes” we have developed a “world” that will be carried through Paradiso and the additional chapters that we will introduce in the future. Each chapter is different – and each room within Chapter 1 is different – but they are all held together by a larger story structure, like episodes of a TV show or comic book.

Can I bring my bags?

You can but we encourage you to not bring anything with you. Audience members will be on their feet, maneuvering through small spaces at times. We provide secure coat and bag check upon check-in for small shoulder bags and coats. Large purses, backpacks, shopping bags, suitcases and other personal items are better left at home.

I purchased my tickets for the wrong day/time. Can I reschedule my ticket?

We will always try to accommodate you. For questions about tickets and resolving ticket issues, please contact www.paradiso.com/contact

Can I refund my ticket?

All sales are final but if it’s a matter or scheduling, we will make every effort to accommodate you and your party. Like with any show or attraction, some times are busier than others so timing is everything. Our priority is to make sure that you have a good time and enjoy yourself at PARADISO.

What if I’m late? Will I still be able to go inside?

Due to the frequency of entrances and the adherence to the tight schedule that it requires, you are not allowed into the room if you are late. If there is room available in a following group, you may enter as an individual or if that isn’t possible, we will try to accommodate your party on the next day or sometime thereafter. For more info or to re-book your tickets, email www.paradisoescape.com/contact. All re-scheduling will be done at the management’s discretion.

I don’t want to be with strangers. How do I go with only my friends?

The maximum capacity of each group is 10 people. If you want to go together with your friends, you must buy the tickets together and make arrangements with your party directly. The only time we mark a certain time as “sold out” is once 10 tickets have been sold for that time slot. To make special arrangements, to book a single group larger than 10 people or to book multiple groups, please contact our group sales agent at groups@paradisoescape.com

How long does the experience last?

You are in the experience for 60 minutes or until you escape. We suggest that you arrive at least 10-15 minutes before your entrance time. Prepare for the entire experience to take a total of 90 mins from arrival to completion. There is no late entry. If you arrive late for your entry time, you may choose to enter with a different group, depending on available space.

Are there any age restrictions?

Due to mature subject matter, participants must be at least 13 years of age. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. To enter PARADISO every participant must sign a liability waiver and anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign one on their behalf.

Do I have to be in good shape to go through the room?

You may need to maneuver in and out of a few small spaces during the experience, but it does not require physical fitness, endurance or agility.

What if I don’t finish the puzzle before my time is up?

This escape room is quite challenging and complex, though it is designed to be solved. If you don’t finish in an hour, you can always come back and try it again. The experience is over after 60 minutes whether your group has solved its way out or not.

How do I purchase tickets?

You can purchase tickets in advance only on our website www.paradisoescape.com

Can I purchase tickets at the door?

Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Is this experience safe?

Though we have gone to great lengths to create a sense of urgency and danger within PARADISO, it is an extremely safe environment – more so, in fact, than most other “escape rooms” that we are aware of. PARADISO has emergency escape buttons in every room that release magnetic door locks. There is an overall emergency release that unlocks all doors in the event of a loss of power for any reason. There is an emergency lighting system and every room is monitored by audio and video surveillance at all times.

Will I have to sign a waiver?

Yes. Though we have designed this experience to be safe it would be impossible for us to operate given the nature of an “escape room” experience without having the audience acknowledge the inherent risks of highly suspenseful, thrill-oriented attractions.

I heard there are actors. Is there much interaction with them?

There are actors in this experience that play a number of roles – some helpful and some not – by design. In addition, the storyline involves supporters (on your side) as well as adversaries who are seemingly against you and your group.

I heard you guys did the Walking Dead Experience? Is this experience scary?

We did do the Walking Dead Experience and that was scary in a “Walking Dead horror” sense but this is not. PARADISO is more “James Bond” or suspenseful action movie, than anything else. It is intense but we wouldn’t call it scary.

What does Chapter 1 mean?

PARADISO introduces an extensive narrative structure. You don’t need to know anything about any other part of it to enjoy Chapter 1. If however you experience and enjoy Chapter 1, you can continue the experience and story with additional chapters which introduce new characters and expand on the story that Chapter 1 introduced. Unlike most other escape rooms that we’ve found, PARADISO is based on a compelling and realistic story line.

Why is it more expensive than other escape rooms?

PARADISO is an extremely elaborate production with state-of-the-art special effects, sets, and professional performers, more like a full stage immersive production.

Is there more than one room?

Yes. Part of what makes PARADISO different from other escape rooms is our use of one unifying and believeable narrative concept. Instead of offering a menu of random “themes” we have developed a “world” and a story within which you will be lead through a series of different rooms and environments.

Why do you need my cell number and what will you do with it?

To give you access to all aspects of Chapter 1 and to provide you with the total experience that we’ve designed, we are asking everyone who participates for their cell number.  this is not only for practical reasons (like sending you a confirmation and a reminder about where to meet) but also for creative reasons (part of the story will come to you through your phone, social media and through online links accessed from your phone). You will NOT be spammed, marketed to and you will receive fewer than 10 texts in total.
